The Toronto Star has revealed that publicly owned, Oakville Hydro, had donated $8,500 to the Liberal Party of Ontario for the 2009 by-election in the Haliburton area. Oakville Hydro is owned by the Town of Oakville. This is an outrageous use of tax payers money. The Oakville Beaver revealed that over a 2 year period that Oakville Hydro donated a total of $15,500 to the Liberal Party of Ontario -- the largest such donation by any public utility.They go on to state that the by-election for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock was one in which John Tory [former leader of the Conservative Party of Ontario at the time] was hoping to beat Liberal Rick Hansen and gain a seat in the Ontario Legislature.
John Kay, has written to both local Ward 3 councillor Dave Gittings and Regional councillor Keith Bird calling for a special council meeting, in public where the Town's representatives on the Board, Mayor Burton, Ward 6 councillor Max Khan and the Town's Chief Administrative Officer, Ray Green can explain why, we are donating with tax payers money to the Liberal Party of Ontario.

It has been rumoured that the Halton District School Board finally has construction permits for Maple Grove school. The school's renovation to create an English JK08 school in Ward 3 was initially slated for completion in 2010. It is doubtful whether the construction will be completed before the start of the 2012 school year in September 2011.
The construction at New Central, which was to be completed by September 2010, appears to be moving slowly forward and according to the school board is due for completion before Christmas 2010 -- we are doubtful this time schedule can be met.
EJ James, which was to receive a "minor" renovation to prepare the bathrooms for the elementary schools - converting from a middle school (grades 6 to 8) to Grades 1 to 8. To-date the bathrooms still aren't renovated and the painting is incomplete.
How can the school board, with its experience in planning and construction miss every deadline set in SouthEast Oakville Ward 3. It's a complete management failure -- the Halton District School Board gets an F for inadequate planning, and poor management of these projects in Ward 3.
