It is clear, a new strategy needs to be devised by the Provincial Government to deal with the various stakeholders in a Community. We have clearly seen that Town planning, Health Care relocation, Catholic School Board, Public school boards all interact in the same geographic domain, yet they consider their individual needs separate from the overall needs of the Community.
The current PARC in South East Oakville, as defined by the Halton District School Board, does not take into account, the Town’s plan of GO land intensification, nor is there consideration for the future use of the Hospital site. The Catholic School Board, has suffered from declining enrollment at their school in Clearview & south of Cornwall, yet they will make decisions independent of the public school board. If both Boards shared a common goal of creating community centred schools solutions could be found for Clearview without tearing our community apart. Similarly, the Town is embarking on creating recreational facilities & parks, which operate independently of the schools. One often wonders about multi-use grounds and facilities that are community centred, so our children can walk to a safe local resource, as opposed to being driven to a large single site. It should be about how we define a community we wish to live in together.
