Our goals are simple

  • We respectfully request accurate, complete and timely information from the school board.
  • We expect a business plan to be put forward to the community that justifies and explains the rationale for the decision making proposed.
  • We request an open and transparent process that all community members can support.
  • We expect the process / decision to be final and supported by the community.
  • We agree with 1 middle school (Grades 7-8) for our community.
  • We agree to continue with a single high school (grades 9-12).
  • We agree with single-track Elementary French Immersion (grades 1-6)
  • We don’t support closing schools in one community in order to justify creating a school in another community.
  • We agree at least one school must be closed to achieve the stated objectives.
  • We request that funds be allocated to renovate the schools agreed to continue –– as they have been neglected for years.
  • We request that any financial windfall from property sales be kept in South East Oakville for the desperately needed renovations to our facilities.
  • Many of these properties were purchased before our school board was amalgamated by Halton.  The funds to purchase these properties came directly from Oakville tax dollars.  Some of the sites may have been donated to our community.  We respectfully request that South East Oakville be the rightful recipient of any such windfall.

For a better education

  • We support public education.
  • Adequate resources for all children in our schools.
  • Safe, supportive environment for learning.
  • Community schools keep children in school.
  • We strongly support a transparent, open process, informative with full disclosure of the facts.
  • We will support a decision that may involve school closure.
  • We empathize with Clearview.
  • We support solving the Clearview issue, without creating / displacing other neighbourhood schools to solve the issue.
