Our Community

  • We recognize the need to consolidate schools / rationalize services in the community.
  • We take issue with the process presented by the school board.
  • For over 30 years, the school board has been publicly studying school closure in our community.  As a result of this uncertainty, our schools have been neglected by the Board, and renovation / refurbishment has not occurred.  The result, many families have opted for private education in South East Oakville –– over 40% of our families send their children to private school.*
  • One of our local communities, Clearview, was promised a public school over 20 years ago.  This was never fulfilled, due to lack of student population to build a viable school.  As a result, these children either opt for the Catholic School Board or take buses to schools in South-East Oakville.
  • Our school board trustee and town councillor, former trustee, are on record for building in Clearview.
  • The Province will only fund new schools with over 500 student population
  • Clearview will require over 200 children to be bussed North, if a proposed school is built.
  • A school(s) must be closed, if Clearview is to be built according to Ministry guidelines.
  • We sympathize and believe we must first fix what is not working with our existing schools, work towards increasing our market share and provide a stable environment that will encourage families to send their children to public school.
